After the shameful approval of the restrictive proposals of the Dutch Presidency by the Council of the European Union, it&#8217;s up to hunters and sport shooters EU-wide to pressure the European Parliament to reject all proposals!<\/h2>\n<div class=\"author text\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.all4shooters.com\/en\/Shooting\/law\/EU-gun-ban-European-Council-approves\/\">Article by\u00a0Pierangelo Tendas (All4Shooters.com)<\/a>\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n<div class=\"author text\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 258px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a id=\"li0f6a9b6d-ca76-4dd1-837f-782092c3b83d\" href=\"https:\/\/www.all4shooters.com\/en\/Shooting\/law\/EU-gun-ban-European-Council-approves\/EU-gun-ban-genval.jpg?resize=1500x630%3E\" rel=\"galleryimage\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"MEDIA\" title=\"EU gun ban: Council approves, the fight is now at the Parliament\" src=\"https:\/\/www.all4shooters.com\/en\/Shooting\/law\/EU-gun-ban-European-Council-approves\/EU-gun-ban-genval.jpg?resize=248x\" alt=\"The courtyard with flags in the Justus Lipsius building in Brussels, home of the Council of the European Union\" width=\"248\" height=\"164\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Dutch Presidency document as approved by GENVAL and COREPER was adopted yesterday by the Council as its common position \u2212 off-camera!<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"align-justify\">On Friday, June 10th, 2016, the European institutions gave another <i><b>proof of elitist infamy<\/b><\/i> during the meeting of the Council of the European Union in its JHA configuration \u2212 attended by the Ministers of Justice and Home Affairs of the twenty-eight Member States.<\/p>\n<p class=\"align-justify\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.all4shooters.com\/en\/Shooting\/law\/EU-gun-ban-council-presidency-commission-update\/imfname_10636134.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">document proposed by the Dutch Presidency and approved by GENVAL and COREPER in the past few days<\/a> was in fact <i><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.all4shooters.com\/en\/Shooting\/law\/EU-gun-ban-European-Council-approves\/JHA-meeting-10-06-2016.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">adopted as the Council&#8217;s common position on the EU gun ban proposal<\/a>, with only the Czech Republic and Poland openly opposing it in full <\/b><\/i>and other Countries such as Slovakia and Malta asking for corrections.<\/p>\n<p class=\"align-justify\">Before the vote, the coming Ministers of Justice and Home Affairs <a href=\"http:\/\/tvnewsroom.consilium.europa.eu\/event\/justice-and-home-affairs-council-june-2016-574c484c8c654\/arrival-and-doorstep-cz-chovanec-575a7831b9027\" target=\"_blank\">were interviewed on camera<\/a> and some of them released some <i><b>very shameful and disturbing declarations<\/b><\/i>, such as when the German Minister of Home Affairs declared herself &#8221;<i>Happy that, in the coming future, all weapons will be registered<\/i><i>.&#8221;<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"align-justify\">This article is also available in the following languages:\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.all4shooters.com\/it\/Tiro\/legge\/Restrizioni-UE-approvazione-consiglio\/\">IT<\/a>\u00a0 (DE will follow soon)<\/p>\n<p class=\"align-justify\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"align-justify\">Even more shamefully so, the Dutch Presidency is bragging the result as a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EU2016NL\/status\/741233092598345728\" target=\"_blank\">&#8221;fair balance between allowed firearms commerce and security of citizens<\/a>&#8221; while the adopted proposal is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.all4shooters.com\/en\/Shooting\/law\/EU-gun-ban-council-presidency-commission-update\/\" target=\"_blank\">outright disastrous<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Dutch Presidency calls it a &#8221;fair balance&#8221;, but the common position adopted by the Council is actually highly restrictive!<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 258px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a id=\"li6fdc6a1f-bfe4-42fe-bb13-ac08e3cab573\" href=\"https:\/\/www.all4shooters.com\/en\/Shooting\/law\/EU-gun-ban-European-Council-approves\/EU-gun-ban-shooter.jpg?resize=1500x630%3E\" rel=\"galleryimage\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"MEDIA\" title=\"EU gun ban: Council approves, the fight is now at the Parliament\" src=\"https:\/\/www.all4shooters.com\/en\/Shooting\/law\/EU-gun-ban-European-Council-approves\/EU-gun-ban-shooter.jpg?resize=248x\" alt=\"Young shooter holds a 20-gauge Chiappa Triple Threat shotgun\" width=\"248\" height=\"165\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Dutch Presidency calls it a &#8221;fair balance&#8221;, but the common position adopted by the Council is actually highly restrictive!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>And indeed, we had signs that the Ministers that attended the meeting had to be somewhat ashamed: the session was <a href=\"http:\/\/video.consilium.europa.eu\/en\/webcast\/e1eac159-f6c9-4e15-9366-d69330482d95\" target=\"_blank\">public, and thus there was a live streaming<\/a>, but when the document was voted, the Ministers <i><b>asked and obtained the cameras to be shut down<\/b><\/i>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"text textblock\">\n<p class=\"align-justify\">We couldn&#8217;t expect anything better from a plenary featuring figures such as the Swedish Minister of Home Affairs Anders Ygeman, about whom the FIREARMS UNITED network today breaks news of a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/firearms-united.com\/2016\/06\/10\/swedish-minister-interior-suspicion\/\" target=\"_blank\"><i><b>parliamentary investigation by the Constitutional committee regarding his work with the Firearms directive<\/b><\/i><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"align-justify\">Leaked documents indicate that the mandate given by the Parliament, that the Firearms Directive shouldn\u2019t be unnecessarily burdensome to legal firearm owners, has not been followed: according to said documents, Sweden has proposed <i><b>bans on some semi-automatic firearms, medical checks and time limited licensing<\/b><\/i>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"align-justify\">Morgan Johansson from the Swedish Department of Justice is also mentioned in the report for <i><b>classifying documents regarding Swedens negotiations in Brussels as secret<\/b><\/i> in what could be a<i><b> cover up<\/b><\/i>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"ir_c319137a-6f85-4628-87ed-b2a08865104a\" class=\"floatRight imageRepeater images COLUMN\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"text textblock\">\n<div style=\"width: 258px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a id=\"li3114424e-6e3e-4a5c-83e3-50c727171647\" href=\"https:\/\/www.all4shooters.com\/en\/Shooting\/law\/EU-gun-ban-European-Council-approves\/EU-gun-ban-vicky-ford.jpg?resize=1500x630%3E\" rel=\"galleryimage\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"MEDIA\" title=\"EU gun ban: Council approves, the fight is now at the Parliament\" src=\"https:\/\/www.all4shooters.com\/en\/Shooting\/law\/EU-gun-ban-European-Council-approves\/EU-gun-ban-vicky-ford.jpg?resize=248x\" alt=\"British MEP Vicky Ford holds a Union Jack flag\" width=\"248\" height=\"218\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">The front now moves at IMCO, where MEP Vicky Ford has been well balanced towards our interests so far<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Now <i><b>the battle front moves to the European Parliament<\/b><\/i> for the final phases. After the somewhat unexpected\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.all4shooters.com\/en\/Shooting\/law\/EU-gun-ban-LIBE-GENVAL-COREPER\/\" target=\"_blank\">victory at the LIBE committee, back in May<\/a>, the IMCO committee \u2212 whose chairwoman and rapporteur, British MEP Vicky Ford, has so far been good enough in the protection of our legitimate interests \u2212 will <i><b>evaluate compromise amendments on\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/parltrack.euwiki.org\/committee\/IMCO\" target=\"_blank\">Tuesday, June 14th<\/a><\/b><\/i>; the final vote at IMCO is scheduled to take place on\u00a0 <i><b>Thursday, July 14th<\/b><\/i>, while the resulting document will be <a href=\"http:\/\/parltrack.euwiki.org\/dossier\/2015\/0269(COD)\" target=\"_blank\">voted by the plenary session of the European Parliament on Tuesday, November 22nd<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"align-justify\">Should the European Parliament manage <i><b>not to bow to the Council and Commission&#8217;s pressures<\/b><\/i>, after the plenary vote an attempt of <b><i>agreement should take place<\/i><\/b> before the procedure is reset for a second reading in 2017; by then, the new <b><i>Slovakian Presidency of the European Union<\/i><\/b> could be able to help us, as at yesterday&#8217;s Council vote, Slovakia as the next President was <i><b>forced to maintain neutrality<\/b><\/i>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"ir_23d01e0e-bd09-4633-a607-8876ab10aec3\" class=\"floatLeft imageRepeater images COLUMN\">\n<div class=\"INSTANCE ODD FIRST LAST COUNT1\">\n<div class=\"lightboxThumbnail MEDIA\">\n<div style=\"width: 258px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a id=\"li687cef14-3168-4020-b168-9d55f2d19827\" href=\"https:\/\/www.all4shooters.com\/en\/Shooting\/law\/EU-gun-ban-European-Council-approves\/EU-gun-ban-hunting-shotgun.jpg?resize=1500x630%3E\" rel=\"galleryimage\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"MEDIA\" title=\"EU gun ban: Council approves, the fight is now at the Parliament\" src=\"https:\/\/www.all4shooters.com\/en\/Shooting\/law\/EU-gun-ban-European-Council-approves\/EU-gun-ban-hunting-shotgun.jpg?resize=248x\" alt=\"A hand grabs rifles: EU gun ban\" width=\"248\" height=\"248\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Without a compact mobilization, it will be very hard to prevent the EU from disarming the citizens of twenty-eight member States!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>As MEPs will likely be <i><b>subject to intense pressures to cave in, right from the coming few hours<\/b><\/i>, our followers should thus<i><b> immediately start writing again to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/committees\/en\/imco\/members.html\" target=\"_blank\">IMCO members<\/a><\/b><\/i>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"text textblock\">\n<p class=\"align-justify\">All freedom-loving gun owners should let MEPs understand that we expect them to maintain opposition, no matter what happened yesterday, We urge you all to let them understand that the Commission&#8217;s proposals and yesterday&#8217;s vote in Council are <i><b>both unacceptable and unbalanced, biased against law abiding gun industry, dangerous for the economy and the industry as they lack an impact assesment, and useless for common safety<\/b><\/i>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"align-justify\">It has to be made very clear to MEPs that <i><b>the gun owners community will not accept any compromise<\/b><\/i> nor any ruling other than a &#8221;<i><b>no bans on restrictions on anything that&#8217;s legal and free to own today<\/b><\/i>&#8221;, and that should the European Parliament vote otherwise, our community could decide to <i><b>turn its vote towards political forces pushing for deep changes of the European situation<\/b><\/i> \u2212 starting from the coming &#8221;Brexit&#8221;
