It depends on you!\u00a0\u00bb was the final warning of George Orwell, author of \u00ab\u00a01984\u00a0\u00bb, which was not meant as a manual.<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/George_Orwell\" target=\"_blank\">George Orwell<\/a> (25 June 1903 \u2013 21 January 1950)\u00a0\u00a0must have been a prophet &#8211; as lots\u00a0of the things\u00a0he wrote 1948 in his novel <em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nineteen_Eighty-Four\" target=\"_blank\">Nineteen Eighty-Four<\/a><\/em>\u00a0became reality, same is valid for his novel <em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Animal_Farm\" target=\"_blank\">Animal Farm<\/a><\/em>. Many phrases of his invented surveillance state &#8211; such as &lsquo;Big Brother is watching you&rsquo;, &lsquo;newspeak&rsquo; and &lsquo;doublethink&rsquo; &#8211; entering popular use.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/George_Orwell\" target=\"_blank\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JXm5hklbBsA\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have read both books, the latter one we even discussed in the early 80ies for more than six month in English course at high school. I also read\u00a0 Aldous Huxley novel\u00a0<i><a title=\"Brave New World\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brave_New_World\">Brave New World<\/a><\/i>\u00a0in school. Seems both authors are\u00a0nowadays ignored in public education. \u00a0What a pity!<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"1984_vs._Brave_New_World\" class=\"mw-headline\"><i>1984<\/i> vs. <i>Brave New World<\/i><\/span><\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>They are both <strong>predictions of societies dominated by a central government<\/strong>, based on extensions of the trends of their times. But the ruling class of <i>1984<\/i> use brutal force, torture, and mind control to keep rebellious individuals in line, while <i>Brave New World<\/i> rulers keep citizens in line through addictive drugs and pleasurable distractions.<\/p>\n<p>In October 1949, after reading <i>1984<\/i>, Huxley sent a letter to Orwell stating his belief that it would be more efficient for rulers to stay in power through the softer touch \u2013 allowing citizens to self-seek pleasure as a means of control rather than brute force, allowing for a false sense of freedom:<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<dl>\n<dd>\u00ab\u00a0Within the next generation I believe that the world&rsquo;s rulers will discover that infant conditioning and narco-hypnosis are more efficient, as instruments of government, than clubs and prisons, and that the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging and kicking them into obedience.\u00a0\u00bb<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p><strong>Elements of both novels can be seen in modern-day societies, with Huxley&rsquo;s vision being more dominant in the West and Orwell&rsquo;s vision more dominate with dictators in ex-communist countries and the theocracies and dictators of the Middle East<\/strong>, as pointed out in essays that compare the two novels.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nineteen_Eighty-Four\" target=\"_blank\">Wikipedia:\u00a0<i>Nineteen Eighty-Four<\/i><\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The most impressing sentence of above snippet of the <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/EuVYvkdTYWc\" target=\"_blank\">95 minutes documentary<\/a> is this one:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/EuVYvkdTYWc\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-567 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/firearms-united.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/orwell.gif\" alt=\"orwell\" width=\"829\" height=\"455\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and his recommandation:<\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00ab\u00a0Don&rsquo;t let it happen! It depends on you!\u00a0\u00bb<\/h1>\n<p>Let&rsquo;s see what I found today in the social nets:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h2>IT IS THE EU THAT IS TRULY \u2018EUROPHOBIC\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>This is fundamentally what the EU represents:<strong> institutionalised distrust of the peoples of Europe. Its mission is to remove political and moral decision-making from the national electorates of Europe because it doesn\u2019t trust them;<\/strong> it installed technocratic governments or financial regimes in Greece, Italy and Ireland because it doesn\u2019t trust those people; it fearmongers about prejudice in Eastern Europe because it doesn\u2019t trust anyone east of Vienna. If, as the dictionary says, Europhobia is \u2018dislike for or hostility to Europe and Europeans\u2019, then the EU is the citadel of Europhobia; it is the institutionalisation of Europhobia.<\/p>\n<p>And that is why those of us who love Europe, who trust European peoples to determine their affairs better than any suit in Brussels could, and who want to offer solidarity rather than sermons to our European brothers and sisters, should wholly reject the EU.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The optimistic, humanistic thing for true Europeans to do is to call for the dismantling of all EU institutions, so that the peoples of Europe might make decisions for themselves, and work together as they see fit.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.spiked-online.com\/newsite\/article\/it-is-the-eu-that-is-truly-europhobic\/18337#.VzJnaoQgX4Z\" target=\"_blank\">spiked-online of 10th of May 2016<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">History repeats itself<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We live nowadays in a world where the leaders do not trust in their citizens; where the elites\u00a0live in an ivory tower and fear the people. \u00a0<strong>And this is the reason why they want to disarm the people. <\/strong>Whilst Turkey takes Orwell&rsquo;s way, the European Union walks on Huxley&rsquo;s tracks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">They invented rules in Brussels where<strong> public opinon has nearly no chance<\/strong> at all &#8211; only bureaucrats can formulate their will.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">They invented <strong>programs to pacify the people<\/strong>: public polls, surveys, &lsquo;written questions&rsquo;, ombudsman and bodies who should work as a bridge between civil society and Brussels. But polls and surveys with the \u00ab\u00a0wrong\u00a0\u00bb outcome are ignored, \u00ab\u00a0written questions\u00a0\u00bb are not answered or answered with lies and ombudsman and bodies ignore your letters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">They invented a sort of Orwell&rsquo;s \u00ab\u00a0<strong>Ministry of Truth<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb by \u00ab\u00a0harmonizing\u00a0\u00bb the press which supports instead of critizises the government and also by discriminating \u00ab\u00a0hate speech\u00a0\u00bb (not all hate speech, but only the one, the government does not approve).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In most European countries &#8211; but Finland, Czech Republic, Malta and Slovakia &#8211; the <strong>European Firearms Directive does not show up in the media.<\/strong> Nearly no political party discuss it, no TV Show talks about it.\u00a0I really tried it in my country Germany. Since Silvester in Cologne I was interviewed a lot, I was even guest in two <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ZTHTrVroZfY\" target=\"_blank\">Talk Shows<\/a>. But nobody wanted to ask me about the Firearms Directive &#8211; they only wanted to know how many pepper sprays I sold.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">So what can we do?<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Read and spread the informations we collect.
